Franklin Delano Blackburn


Franklin Delano Blackburn, 68, of Richwood died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at his home.  The retired Rockwell worker was a member of the Faith Bible Fellowship Church of Marion, a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Richwood VFW.  He was also involved with Lifeline of Ohio Organ Procurement and a member of the American Heart Association.

He was born June 19, 1933, to the late Grover Cleveland and Havannah Texas Williams Blackburn in Huddy, Ky.  He was also predeceased by brothers Randolph, Melvin and Pearl and a sister, Margaret Mathison.  He married Nettie Viola Lamb on May 19, 1953, and she survives and lives in Richwood.  Also surviving are his son Doug (Kathy) Blackburn of Richwood and two daughters, Cindy Blackburn of Richwood and Michelle (Rocky) Sessler of Richwood. Two brothers, Jerry (Versie) Blackburn of Newark and John Blackburn of Gahanna also survive as do seven sisters: Thelma Armstrong of Frankfurt, Ky.; Juanita (Foster) Ratliff of Frankfurt, Ky.; Helen (Louis) Shupe of Columbus; Faye (Paul) McFarland of Columbus; Shirley (Lawrence) Dempsey of Gahanna; Lena Blackburn of Gallipolis and Justine Blackburn of Ypsilanti, Mi.  Also surviving are four grandchildren: Sarah and Reuben Blackburn and Ethan and Tristen Sessler.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood with the Rev. Brad Burrell officiating and burial to follow at the Byhalia Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Lifeline of Ohio Organ Procurement.
