Virginia G. Cooley, 78, of Byhalia died unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 23,
2002, at her home. She was a member of the York United Methodist Church and the Progessive Buds Garden Club and a past officer of the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs. She especially enjoyed her flower gardens and feeding birds in the winter. She was born July 27, 1923, in Peoria to the late Gertrude Hoagland Smith and was predeceased by a grandson, Craig Cooley. She married George W. Cooley April 14, 1941, and he died Sept. 13, 1986. She is survived by two sons, Jerrold L. Cooley of Byhalia and Carroll L. (Sue) Cooley of Clyde; two grandsons, Eric Cooley of Columbus and Shawn Cooley of Byhalia; and two great-granddaughters. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood. The Rev. Phyllis Radlinski will officiate and burial will be at the Byhalia Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dr. Craig A. Cooley Memorial Scholarship Fund, 401 N. Franklin St., Richwood.
