Lillian E. Haughn Cook


Lillian E. Haughn Cook, 91, of Richwood died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at
Milcrest Nursing Center after an eight-week illness.
She retired from Marion General Hospital in 1974 as a seamstress in the
sewing room. She was a former member of Grace Chapel Church and a member
of York McKendree United Methodist Church since 1987 and the United
Methodist Women of York Center. She was a charter member of the
Progressive Buds Garden Club of Byhalia and Civic Center Hummers of
Richwood.
She was born Nov. 3, 1910, in Union County to the late William and
Bertha Miller Haughn and was predeceased by three brothers, Howard, Leo
and Sam Haughn; and a sister Hazel M. Clark. She married Robert A. Cook
Dec. 14, 1936, and he died March 7, 1974.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Mary C. Haughn of Richwood and
Maude Cook of Marion; her nephew and caregiver for 12 years, Gregory
Haughn of Richwood; her namesake, a great-great-niece, Lillian G. Bell
of Sylvania; many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly; and numerous
lifelong friends whom she cherished.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the York McKendree
United Methodist Church. The Rev. Phyllis Radlinski will officiate and
burial will be at the Byhalia Cemetery. The family will receive friends
from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Ballinger Funeral Home
in Richwood and at the church one hour prior to service Friday.
Pall bearers will be Wayne Gray, Ed Haughn, Bob Haughn, Sam Haughn,
Chuck Jeska and John Richardson. Honorary pall bearers will be Dr. John
W. Haughn and Ed L. Haughn.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
