Rose LaVerne Newman, 82, of Richwood died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at
Union Manor Nursing Center. She was retired as a corrections officer at the Ohio Reformatory for Women and was a member of the Richwood First United Methodist Church and the Child Conservation League. She was born July 26,1918, in Pharisburg to the late Fred E. and Edith Jolliff Cramer and was predeceased by a son, Fred Newman.. She is survived by her husband, Paul Newman whom she married Jan. 30, 1938, in Richmond, Ind.; two daughters, Karen Bump of Richwood and Rosalee Armstrong of Columbus; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Jean (Cramer) Wilson of Diamond Bar, Calif. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood. The Revs. Scot Gorsuch and Todd Nordquist will officiate and burial will be at the Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richwood EMS in care of the funeral home. | |||
