Sidney Ray "Shorty" Longshore, 98, of Newark died Tuesday, April 17,
2001, at Licking Memorial Hospital. He attended the Tanner Barber School in Toledo and was a barber in Toledo and Richwood for 77 years. He was a member of the Richwood First Baptist Church but more recently attended Southgate Church of Christ near his home in Newark. He was an outstanding husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed by all. He was born April 28, 1902, in Hardin County to the late Minor W. and Jeanette Kites Longshore and was predeceased by a son, Melvin Ray Longshore; two sisters; four brothers; and his wife, Chloa Orth Longshore whom he married Dec. 24,1923. He is survived by a daughter-in-law, Alice Longshore of Delaware; his children, Patricia Ballard of Newark and Robert Tanner of Atlanta; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Juanita Barnhart of Rushylvania; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p jn. Friday at the Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood. Wayne Cass will officiate and burial will be at the Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
