William L. Hickok, 95, of Marion died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at
Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation in Marion. He was a retired farmer and prison guard at the Marion Correctional Institution. He was born Feb. 18, 1906, in Selma, Ind., to the late George and Allie Mae Gary Hickok and was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Perm and Frieda Liggett; a son, Jim Hickok; a granddaughter, Lisa Hickok; and a daughter-in-law, Peggy Hickok. He is survived by his wife, Zeta Sherwood Hickok whom he married Aug. 1, 1931, in Midland, Mich.; two sons, Ernest Hickok of Marion and William Hickok of Ashland; a daughter, Mae (James) Schilling of Marion; two brothers, Robert Hickok of Mount Gilead and Raymond Hickok of Magnetic Springs; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood. The Rev. John Mayes will officiate and burial will be at the Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Cards will be available at the funeral home. | |||
