John Charles Holmes Sr., 64, of Prospect died Thursday, March 9,2000, at
home after an illness of several months. He was a retired pipe fitter for Automatic Sprinkler Fitter and was a member of the Prospect American Legion and the Marion Moose Lodge. He was born April 10,1935, in Cincinnati to the late Albert and Marie Cottingham Holmes and was predeceased by two sisters, Marion Conley and Laura Conradi. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Geraidine Boak Holmes whom he married Feb. 18, 1967, in Massillon; four sons, John Charles (Tina) Holmes Jr. of Fredericktown, Ralph Allen (Christi) Holmes of Marion and Chad Aric Holmes and Shane Michael Holmes of Prospect; five grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Holmes of Cincinnati; and two sisters, Shirley (Jim) Tierney of Cincinnati and Florence Soldhal of California. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Gehm-Ballinger Funeral Home in Prospect. The Rev. James Klima will officiate and burial will be at the Prospect Cemetery where veterans services will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to Quality of Life Hospice in care of the funeral home. | |||
