George L. McPherson
George L. McPherson, 82, of Prospect, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999 at
Community Healthcare Center in Marion after a brief illness.
He was a retired carpenter and an instructor for 12 years at Marion Correctional
Institute. He was a member of the American Legion Post 368 of
Prospect.
He was born April 22, 1917 in Mechanicsburg to George McPherson and
Nettie Stoner McPherson. They preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, the former Alma G. Smith, whom he married
on Feb. 14, 1937; a son, Sam McPherson of Marion; a daughter, Sondra
Anderson of Sandusky; a brother, Donald "Ted" McPherson of Prospect; a
sister, Came Me Williams of Columbus; three grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Vemon.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 2 p.m., at the Gehm-Ballin*er
Funeral Home in Prospect.
The Rev. David L. Hoffman will officiate and burial will be in the Prospect
Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Battle Run Fire and Emergency
Squad, 209 Battle Run, Prospect. Cards will be available at the funeral
home.
