William N. Russell


William N. Russell 86, formerly of Columbus and Mount Victory, died
Sunday, March 28, 1999, at Mount Carmel West Hospital after having been
in failing health for six months.
He was a farmer, then moved to Columbus where he was employed at the
Pure Oil Company. He was an active and dedicated member of the North
Baptist Church of Columbus where he served as a Sunday School teacher. He
was a former member and past president of the Mount Victory Lions Club
and served on the Mount Victory School Board. He was a member of Mount
Carmel Lodge 303 F&AM in Richwood, a past member of the Order of the
Eastern Star Chapter 42 in Richwood, a member of Scioto Chapter 119 Kenton
Council 65, Kenton Commandery 58 and the Hardin County Low 12
Club.
He was born Feb. 21, 1913, to the late Albert L. and Maude Dolan Russell
in Delaware County and was predeceased by a son. William Russell; a brother.
John D. Russell and a sister, Nellie Brady.
In June 1998 he and his wife, Rachel Temple Russell, celebrated their 65th
wedding anniversary and she survives in Columbus. He is also'survived by
a daughter, Linda (Bill) Baker of Grove City; a son, Stephen (Debbie) Russell of Columbus; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-
law, Barbara Russell of Norwalk; two brothers, Judson C. Russell of Richwood
and Robert W. Russell of San Antonio, Texas: a sister, Louise (Gene)
McDaniel of Clute. Texas: and a devoted sister. Freda Kyle of Richwood.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Ballinger Funeral
Home in Richwood. The Revs. Owen Stewart and Barb Stevens will officiate
and burial will be at the Price Cemetery. A Masonic service will be held
at noon and friends may call from noon until the time of the service.
Pall bearers will be Scott Baker, Brian Baker, Greg Russell, Devin Russell,
Pete Davis and Rick Hoffman. Honorary pall bearers will be Bob and Marilyn
Yost. Dorm and Reba Cheatwood; Bill and Dorothy Temple. Bob and
Ruby Fox and Harold and Ruth Hickman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Baptist
Church of Columbus, 76 Charleston Ave.. Columbus, Ohio 43214. Cards
will be available at the funeral home.
