Richard Walter Knickel, 66, of Prospect died unexpectedly Friday, Jan. 17,
1997, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware. He retired after 32 years as a maintenance worker at the Marion Power Shovel Company and after five years with the Pemy Stone Quany. He wasa member of Zion United Church of Christ in Prospect and had served with the National Guard. He was born Feb. 2,1930, in Prospect to the late Otto and C. Marie Zeller Knickel. He married Ruby E. Simpkins Nov. 20,1949, in Greenup, Ky., and she died Dec. 12, 1991. He is survived by five daughters, Sue Knickel and Denise Knickel of Prospect, Sharon Gaverick of Mount Gilead, DeAnn Ballentine of Gahanna and Linda Laufer of Marion; three sons, Daniel Knickel of Richwood, Dale Knickel of Marion and Timothy Knickel of Prospect; 11 grandchildren, including Chad Knickel who lived with him; a great-grandchild; a brother, Dcverre B. Knickel of Milliard; a sister, Karen Knickel of Radnor; a nephew; and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Zion United Church of Christ in Prospect. Burial will be at the Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Gehm-Ballinger Funeral Home in Prospect. Memorial contributions may be made to the Battle Run Fire and Emergency Squad or the church. | |||
