Donald E. Britton, 74, of Prospect died Saturday, Feb. 22,1997, at Americare
Marion Nursing Center. He retired after 34 years as terminal manager of Commercial Motor Freight Inc. He was a graduate of Springfield High School and attended Wittenberg University under the G.I. Bill of Rights. He was a veteran of World War II and served in England as a sergeant with the 2003rd Ordnance Maintenance Company. He was a life member of Verne I. Mounts Post 368, serving as sergeant at arms and commander, and VFW Post 870. • He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Prospect and Central Ohio Traffic Club and served as vice president and chairman of the Prospect Community Youth Organization. ; He was bom Dec. 14,1922, in Mechanicsburg to the late Nathan and Golda Garey Britton. He is survived by his wife, Mary Beaton Britton, whom he married Nov. 28, 1942, in Springfield; two daughters, Deborah (Wayne) Hastings of Bellefontaine and Barbara (Michael) Moser of Dalton; three sons, Donald K. Britlon of Millersville, Md., Jeffrey S. Britton of Marion and David G. Britton of Prospect; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Roger W. "lack" Britton of Muncie, Ind., and James S. Britton of Augusta, Mich. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Gehm-Ballinger Funeral Home in Prospect. The Rev. Stephen F. Bull will officiate and burial will be conducted at 2 pjn. at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Springfield by the Marion: County United Veterans. Friends may call from 5:30 to 8 p.m..
