| Francis Edward "Jack" Oman, 84, of the Richwood-Ostrander area died
Saturday, Aug. 2, 1997, at his home after having been in failing health for a year. He was retired as a custodian with the North Union Schools. He was born Sept. 25, 1912, in Ashville to the late Charles S. and Mary D. Hines Oman. He married Frances Schertzer in December 1933 in Richwood and she died in 1941. He was also predeceased by a daughter and three brothers. He is survived by two sons, Roger Edward Oman of Ostrander and Richard Allan Oman of Celina; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary E. Magrew of Delaware. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood. The Rev. Fred Cheney will officiate and burial will be at the Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to a fund for the continued care of the flower bed in front of North Union High School or to the American Cancer Society. Cards will be available at the funeral home. | |||
