Kichwood resident Wayman Lester Mayes, 67, died Tuesday,
October 28, 1997 at his residence. The former factory inspector and self employed upholsterer had been in failing health several years. He was born November 19, 1929 in Gallipolis, son of the late Edward and Pearl May Minor Field. The veteran of the U.S. Air Force served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Richwood American Legion Post #40, Richwood VFW Post #870 and the Central United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Bonnie Bernhard, whom he married April 21, 1356; two daughters Lisa Flanagan of Marysville and Lola Stewart of Marion; a son, Lee Mayes of Delaware; and four grandchildren. A son and a sister preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 31 at Ballinger Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Cheney officiating. Burial was at Claibourne Cemetery, where military rites were conducted by the local veterans organizations. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. | |||
