Selma Vay Goddard, 83, died Monday, April 10, 1995 at the home of her daughter, Lana Fowler, where she made her home. She had been in failing health for a year. The Putnam County, VW native was born October 17, 1911, daughter of the late Robert and Dulcie Pitchford Jividen. She married Grant Wesley Goddard April 21,1931 in Redhouse, WV. He preceded her in death January 18, 1969. She was a member of Richwood Community United Calvary Church, Richwood Civic Center and the Solitaires. Surviving are three sons: Thurman, of Pandora; Guy Eugene, of Marysville, and Don, of Richwood; three daughters: Maybelle Breadsten, of Brunswick, GA; Paulette Halterman, of Troy, and Lana Fowler, of near Richwood; 20 grandchildren; 18 greatgrandchildren; a brother Dayton Jividen, of Richwood and a sister Arlene Laffler, of Merritt Island, FL. A daughter Ellen is deceased. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 13 at 2 p.m. at the Ballinger Funeral Home with Fred Cheney officiating. Burial will be at Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday, April 12 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Foundation. | |||
