Helen Elizabeth Sherman, 91, of Prospect died late Thursday evening, October 19, 2006 at home. She was born September 3, 1915 in Pankisburg (now Waterloo), Ohio to the late Carson and Ada (Stewart) Crawford.
Helen was a retired cook from the Ohio State Patrol Training Academy. She was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church and the former Prospect Order of the Eastern Star. She was a self-taught artist who enjoyed oil painting and making dolls and doll clothes in her younger years. On October 12, 1932 she married Harold E. Sherman, who died June 12, 1966. She is survived by a son, Ron (Patti) Sherman, Prospect and a daughter Yvonne (Dick) Nye, Prospect, 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Mae Clark. Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 23, 2006 at 7:00 P.M. in the Prospect United Methodist Church where friends may call from 5 to 7 PM. Rev. David L. Hoffman will officiate. Burial will be in Deercreek Cemetery, near London, on Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Marion General Hospital.
