Naomi Francine “Granny” Adkins, 73, of Richwood died Saturday, July 21, 2007 at Marion General Hospital. She was born December 19, 1933 in Marion County to the late Harley and Ruby (Smith) Johnston.
She was a member of the American Legion Post 584 Auxiliary, Marion. Always on the go, she loved people and was known as “Granny” by all who knew her, even by her customers at Wendy’s in Marysville, where she worked in her later years. On January 8, 1951 she married Charles “Bill” Adkins, who died January 19, 1998. She is survived by 3 sons, Darrell (Tabitha) Adkins Sr., Greencamp; Marlin Adkins, LaRue; Keith Adkins, West Virginia; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Tannya Straw on August 12, 2005 Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in the Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Rev. Audi Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
