Michael Boxwell Penry


Michael Boxwell Penry, age 46 of Prospect, died Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the Emergency Room at Marion General Hospital.

He was born August 28, 1961 in Marion.  He graduated from Harding High School class of 1979.  He was active in a variety of sports.  He attended Kent State University, majoring in philosophy.  While at Kent he also played rugby.

He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1986.  He was an electronic communications specialist stationed in Germany.  He was honorably discharged in 1989.  During Operation Desert Storm in 1990 he was ordered back to duty.  After his service he worked as a surveyor assistant in the Marion area and in Florida.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Luella (Boxwell) Penry.  He is survived by his father, John Penry, Marion; sisters Lindy Emery, Cheri Penry, Karen Penry and Jacki Clark; brothers-in-law Claude Emery and Bo McGowan, special aunts, Pat McPherson, and Bettie Fout; step mother, Maggie Penry and her son, Darin McGinnis; nieces and nephews, Lauren and Erin Emery and Taniqua Penry, Jennifer and Erich Voise, Emily Sumner, Lindsey and Danyelle Bass; two great-nieces, Autumn and Sierra Silverio and his cat, “Coogs.”

Michael had a passion for music, reading and discussing philosophy.  He was also an avid fan of the Buckeyes and Browns.  Michael wrote a poem that said:
If we all learn
to be truthful,
compassionate, with
loving care, we can
change the world in
which we live in!

go-King Mike!
His wonderful sense of humor and companionship will be missed by all.  Bodda-Bing-Bodda-Boom.
