Mary L. Meddles


Mary L. Meddles, 75 of Richwood, died Monday evening, May 12, 2008 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.  She was born January 29, 1933 in Radnor to the late James Howard and Eva Fern (Smith) Frye.

She was a 1952 graduate of Radnor High School and attended the Fulton Creek Evangelical Friends Church.  She was an active member of the Richwood Civic Center where she had volunteered over 2000 hours through the Memorial Hospital Community Meals program.  She was a past Worthy Matron of the former Prospect Chapter 69 Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the former LaRue Mary Lenox Chapter 98 OES, the former Lydia Chapter 83 OES in Marion and currently a member of George Lewis Behrens Chapter 504 in Delaware where she received her 50-year pin.  She had worked at Jo-Ann Fabrics and retired from the J. C. Penney Company in Marion where she had been consistantly recognized for the James Cash Penney award for community service.  She had also owned and operated Mary’s Beauty Bar in Prospect for many years.

On December 26, 1952 she married Charles “Bud” Meddles in Dillon, South Carolina and he survives in Richwood.  She is also survived by a son, Paul L. (Sandra) Meddles, New Concord and their children, Erin and Jared Meddles; a daughter, Joan Creasap, Prospect and her children Daniel Creasap, Brian (Kristen) Creasap and Nicholas (Amy) Creasap; a brother, Harold Eugene Frye, Avon Lake; and a sister, Betty Jo Marsh, Cottonwood, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Donald and Leslie Frye.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 16, 2008 at 1:00 PM in the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Joe Kirby officiating.  Burial will follow in Radnor Cemetery.  Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday at the funeral home in Richwood.
