Charles M. Sivey


Charles M. “Chuck” Sivey age 93 of Essex, died Wednesday afternoon August 13, 2008 at the Marion General Hospital following a short illness.

He was born February 7, 1915 in Jackson Township to the late Elmer and Anna Catherine (Daum) Sivey. He was predeceased by 1 sister Ruth Sivey and 1 granddaughter Rachael Perkins.

Chuck was a graduate of the Essex High School and then the Richwood High School.  He was a veteran of the Army, serving overseas from 1941-1945 in the Quartermaster division and on the side served as a company photographer.  He was a dedicated farmer; he loved working the land and taking care of the animals.  He was also a devoted member of the Rush Creek (Essex) United Methodist Church where he served the church in many capacities over the years.  Charles was a Jackson Township Trustee for 24 yrs. where he was instrumental in getting many of the township roads paved.  Chuck enjoyed playing dart ball and was known to tell many a good story or joke.  He will be dearly missed by friends and a loving family.

Surviving is his wife of 62 yrs. Pauline F. (Hall).  They were married June 16, 1946 at the Essex U.M. Church.  They have 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild: Son, Russell, and Terri Sivey of Essex and their 3 children: Russell, Michael (Joni) and Amanda Sivey;  son, Paul, and Carol Sivey of Hilliard;  daughter, Kathryn, and Jerry Sauder of Grabill, Indiana and their 3 children: Josh (Alissa) Sauder, Maria (Ben) Klea and their son, Owen, and Megan Sauder; daughter, Charlene, and Alan Perkins of Bay Village and their 3 children: Grace, David and Jonathan Perkins.  Also surviving is 1 sister: Martha Sivey of Marion.

Friends may call Sunday August 17, 2008 from 2-5 pm at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood and 1 hour prior to the funeral at the church.  Funeral services will be held Monday at the Rush Creek (Essex) United Methodist Church at 11:00 am, Pastor Michelle Holloway will officiate.  Burial will be in Price Cemetery where there will be veteran graveside services conducted by Richwood area veterans.
