Maxine Sidle


Maxine Sidle, age 90, former long-time Richwood hairdresser, died late Sunday evening November 16, 2008 at the Spohn Shoreline Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas.  She was born February 2, 1918 in Richwood to the late Alva and Ada (Brown) McDaniel.

On March 7, 1941 she married Richard Sidle in the First Baptist Church, Richwood and he died in September, 1969.

Maxine was a 1936 graduate of Harding High School and member of the former Central United Methodist Church in Richwood (now Rush Creek), a sixty-year member of the former Mt. Carmel Chapter 42 OES, Carpe Diem, Richwood Civic Center and the Fortnightly Literary Club.  She was the owner and operator of Maxine’s Beauty Shop in Richwood for many years.

She is survived by a daughter, Bobbi Cornwell, Corpus Christi, Texas; a grandson, Vince (Ronda) Deckard, Corpus Christi, Texas; and a great-grandson, Grant Deckard.  She was recently preceded in death by a daughter, Beckie Dickason of Corpus Christi, Texas.  She was also preceded in death by a brother, Gene McDaniel.

Funeral services will be held Friday November 21, 2008 at 11:00 am at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood, where friends may call Thursday from 5-7 pm. with Eastern Star Services at 7:00 pm.  Pastor Michele Holloway will be officiating the funeral and burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Rush Creek U.M. Church and/or the Richwood Civic Center.
