Loa May Amstutz


Loa May Amstutz, age 90, of 34399 Winnemac Rd. Richwood, Ohio, died Wednesday January 14, 2009 at 8:00 AM at Marion Manor in Marion, Ohio.

She was born May 21, 1918 in LaRue, Ohio to the late Warren L. and Loa Ethel (Worline) Dutton Sr. On September 7, 1941 she married Ralph L. Amstutz  and bought their farm on the Winnemac where they lived for 67 years.  Ralph died July 29, 2008.

She is survived by 4 children; Carol Marie Kelly (Husband Floyd Broughton) of Caledonia, David R. (Willa) Amstutz and Steven A. (Clarissa) Amstutz both of Richwood, and Judy Eileen Amstutz of Essex.  Grandchildren; Tim (Deborah) Amstutz, Tom (Rae) Amstutz, Rich (Emeline) Kelly, Doug (Kathleen) Kelly and Step Grandson Mike Broughton. Great Grandchildren; Daniel, Shelby, Matthew, Madison, and Savannah Amstutz and Sara and Brandon Kelly.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers Irvin Dutton and Warren L. Dutton Jr. and 2 sisters; Elizabeth "Betty" Dutton and DaLee Gilliam

Mrs. Amstutz was a member of the LaRue United Methodist Church, Enjoyed reading, sewing, cross stitch, embroidery, cooking, baking, playing the piano. She sang in the church choir, Played baritone in the LaRue Marching Band, was Salutatorian of her senior class in 1936. She was active the Bowling Green Grange for many years.  A 50 year member of the Eastern Star and was Worthy Matron at one time. Worker at the Campbell National Bank in LaRue for 20 years.  During retirement, Loa May and Ralph enjoyed camping in Logan with their family and wintered at their home in Plantation Estates in Fort Myers, Florida for seven years.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday January 17, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue. Minister will be the Rev. Edward W. Fugate.  Burial in the Fairview Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be David, Steven, Tim, Tom and Daniel (great-grandson) Amstutz and Rich and Doug Kelly.  Friends may call at the funeral home in LaRue from 5 to 8 PM on Friday.  There will be Eastern Star Services on Friday at 4:45 PM at the Funeral Home conducted by the George Lewis Behrens Chapter # 504 O.E.S. of Delaware.
