James T. Parrott

Jim Parrott, 70, of Sun City, Arizona died in the early morning hours of Tuesday, February 24th, 2009 in his home.  He died due to complications from Emphysema with which he was diagnosed several years ago.

He was born July 21, 1938 to the late Chester William & Martha T. (Taylor) Parrott and lovingly referred to by them as Jimmy T.  He grew up in Richwood, Ohio where he graduated from high school in 1956 and had fond memories of his experiences on the track team.  Jim went on to serve in the United States Army where he was proud to be part of the 101st Airborne having made over 20 jumps.  He graduated with a degree in Business Administration from The Ohio State University.

Jim worked for Texaco Oil and then Uniroyal Tire for many years.  He later moved to Phoenix, Arizona and became involved with the real estate industry where he was co-owner of his own agency and invested in rental properties.  He loved his ties to Richwood, Ohio: Parrott Implement, John Deere and his friends & family.  He also loved baseball (Sparky’s Big Red Machine and more recently the Arizona Diamondbacks), basketball (the Phoenix Suns), Ohio State football (especially when they beat Michigan), apple pie and homemade chocolate chip cookies.

Jim is survived by his son, Richard A. Parrott of Atlanta, Georgia and his daughter Catherine P. Ruffner of Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan & her husband Rick; his grandchildren, Tyson & Jessey Baker and Zoe & Isabella Ruffner and his faithful and loving dog, Duke.  Duke will now be joining Bandit & Bear and the rest of the Ruffner family. His sister, Pat Eby of Reno, Nevada and her husband Hal also survive Jim.

Jim was preceded in death by his son Mike and was an avid animal lover.  Together they will be spending the rest of their time in heaven with their many dogs and Tony the Pony.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 11:30 AM in the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Mo Dunn officiating.  The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery.
