David L. Ray


  David Lee Ray, age 61, of Richmond Indiana, formerly of LaRue, died Tuesday June 16, 2009 at 12:40 PM at the VA Medical Center in Dayton.  He was born September 15, 1947 in Kenton, Ohio to the late William D. and Georgia (Rogers) Ray.  On May 13, 1970 he married Shelley Holtsberry and she survives.

Also surviving are sons; David L. (Debra) Ray Jr. of Omaha, Nebraska and Darrin L. Ray of Marion, Ohio. Grandchildren: Conner D, Ray, Blake N. Ray and Lexa N. Ray.  Sisters; Brenda Ray of Toledo, Lynda Shipp of Belle Center, Susan Lasure of Harrod and Diane Shipp. Brother; Jerry (Linda) Shipp of Wapakoneta. Nieces and Nephews.  Brother Ed Shipp is deceased.

David was an apprentice tool and die maker and worked as a die setter for Osborn Internatioinal.  He graduated from Kenton High School, and Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science Degree.  He served in the U S Army in Viet Nam where he earned the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.  Life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was active with the Richmond Senior Center during many different types of art work. He also was licensed to fly airplanes.

There will be no service or calling hours. The family request that folks celebrate Davids life as it was before his illness. He is truly now at peace.
