Arch L. Lindsay


Arch L. Lindsay, age 89, formerly of Richwood, died early Friday morning, August 21, 2009 at his residence at Sterling House.  He was born June 6, 1920 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Robert M. and Beulah (Houser) Lindsay.

On June 23, 1945 he married the former Ruth H. Fox and she survives.

He was a member of the Richwood First Baptist Church.  He was a World War II Veteran of the Army Air Force.  Arch was a dedicated farmer and a very talented carpenter who worked on many projects for people in the surrounding communities.   He loved travelling and wintering in Florida with his wife Ruth.  Arch and Ruth did everything together and it was uncommon to see one without the other.  Arch enjoyed being around people and making friends wherever he travelled.  Another passion in his life was music.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Dean Richard (Carla) Lindsay, Wilmette, Illinois; Kent E. (Cathy) Lindsay, Los Angeles, California; a daughter, Diane (Dan) Lehman, Richwood; six grandchildren, Kama (Michael) Rannells; Evan Lindsay; Shelly Lehman; Troy (Sarah) Lehman; Danika Lindsay; Kira Lindsay; and a great grandson Mack Rannells.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Grey Lindsay.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Richwood First Baptist Church, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. Brian Moser and Rev. Joseph Kirby will officiate and burial will follow in the Claibourne Cemetery, where there will be veteran graveside services conducted by the Richwood Area Veterans.  Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood is in charge of arrangements.
