Frank P. Hempy


Frank P. Hempy, age 85 of Prospect, died Wednesday morning, November 4, 2009 at the Partners of Marion.  He was born May 22, 1924 in Big Island to the late Frank P. and Pearl (Shuff) Hempy.

On December 23, 1948 he married the former Betty Doyle and she passed away September 10, 1999.

He was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church; Hiram Lodge #18 F&AM in Delaware; Prospect American Legion 368; and Prospect Senior Citizens.  A 1942 graduate of Waldo High School, Frank was a retired carpenter with G & G Homes after over 30 years of service.

He is survived by three sons, Mike (Gloria) Hempy, Prospect; Rex Hempy, Prospect; Bill (Shelly) Hempy, Delaware; a daughter, Carolyn (John) Van Eck, LaRue; a sister, Luella Hoffman, Columbus; 3 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-great grandchild.  Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Sky, three brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Prospect with Pastor Richard Allen officiating.  Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery.  Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM on Friday at the funeral home in Prospect where a Masonic service will be conducted at 7 PM.
