Elmer Allen "Whitey" Messenger, 77, of Marion died Tuesday morning, August 9, 2005 at Ohio Point (formerly Maplewood Nursing Center) where he has resided for the last 8 months. He was born July 1, 1928 in Marion, OH to Owen W. Messenger and Elva Russell Messenger, both deceased.
He was formerly a Sand System Operator for Marion Power Shovel. He married Willa Mae Lyons, who died July 26, 1990 . He is survived by 2 sons, Joseph and John William Messenger, both of Marion and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 daughters, 1 step-son and 12 brothers and sisters. Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 12, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. in the Marion Enterprise Baptist Church, Marion with Pastors Fred Buckner and Paul McKenzie officiating. Burial will be in Grand Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Marion Enterprise Baptist Church.
