James E. Pendleton


James E. Pendleton, age 74 of LaRue, died early Monday morning, June 21, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born March 8, 1936 in Marion to the late Perd and Edna (Jameson) Pendleton.

On August 30, 1971 he married the former Mary Walker in LaRue and she survives.

A veteran of the U. S. Army, he worked as a crane operator for Marion Power Shovel for 15 years; was a guard for MCI; and worked on the farm for Kate and Ed Schweinfurth.  He enjoyed gardening and fishing when he was able and was known for being ornery.

Besides his wife he is also survived by six sons, John M. Pendleton, Marion; Brian (Edna) Pendleton, LaRue; Carl (Pat) Temple, LaRue; Ernie Temple, Forest; James Temple, Bucyrus, Robert Finch, Marion; five daughters, Cheryl Bise, Nevada; Lisa (Bud) Hall, Morrow; Jennifer Pendleton, Kenton; Darlene (Donnie Jr.) Norris, New Bloomington; Margaret Temple, Michigan; a sister, Mary Fout, Seattle, Washington; son-in-law, Paul Rosebrough, Marion;; 33 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie Rosebrough; a brother, Perd Pendleton; half-brother, Otto Hessler; two sisters, Harriet Fassler and Florence Libly; one grandchild and his former wife, Nelly Wake.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 1:00 PM in the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, LaRue with Pastor Doral Sharp officiating.  Burial will follow in LaRue Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Marion County United Veterans Council.  Friends may call 2 hours prior to the service from 11 to 1.
