Margaret M. “Maggie” Dunbar


Margaret M. “Maggie” Dunbar, age 79 of Prospect died Tuesday morning, July 27, 2010 at Community Healthcare Center in Marion.  She was born May 4, 1931 in Prospect to the late Harold and Grace Eva (Reynolds) Anson.

On August 30, 1951 she married George Robert Dunbar and he died August 28, 1979.

She was a member of Fulton Creek Friends Church.  She was the former editor of the Ohio Jersey News and worked at the Prospect Laundry.  Maggie was a noted singer, lending her voice to many functions in the area along with the accompaniment of Judy Dendinger on the piano.  She was also a member of the Marion Area Poets Society.  Maggie was known to be a stern disciplinarian with a unique sense of wit.

She is survived by a son, Robert “Tony” Dunbar, Prospect; two daughters, Eva Monique Dunbar, Columbus; Mary A. Dunbar, Richwood; a foster-son, Bill Evans, Marion; four grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Gabriel, Toronto, Ohio.  She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Edward Dunbar and a brother, Ed C. Anson.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 30, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Fulton Creek Friends Church with Pastor Joe Kirby officiating.  Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery.  Friends may call from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday at the Fulton Creek Friends Church, 10950 Fulton Creek Road, Richwood, OH  43344.
