Carol Jean Darland


Carol “Jean” Darland, age 65, of LaRue, Ohio died Saturday August 14, 2010 at 9:50 PM at her residence.  She was born December 25, 1944 in Quincy, Kentucky to the late Clarence and Hester Mae (Harris) Thomas.  On May 14, 1976 she married Melvin Darland and he died April 11, 2003.

She is survived by sons; Don (Lori) King of Kenton, Terry (Karla) King of New Bloomington, daughters; Phyllis (Charles) Hamm and Cathy (Matthew) Waterer both of New Bloomington, Pamela (John) Clawson of LaRue, Melinda (Grant) Paff of Piqua and Michelle (Kevin) Riley of Sidney.  Twenty-one Grandchildren and Five Great Grandchildren. Brothers; Donnie King and Lanny King both of Fletcher Ohio, Rick King of DeGraff, and Danny King of Springfield. Sisters; Cennie Klopfer and Joyce Hill both of Perry, Florida, Linda Swafford of Columbus and Lou Mahan of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by son; Darrell King, Grandson; Brandon King, Sister; Nancy Wood, Brothers; Robert Thomas and Clarence Thomas Jr.

Mrs. Darland was a homemaker and worked with Home Health Care  and later J-Lenco. Member of the Meeker United Methodist Church, and the Women of the Moose in Kenton. Her whole life was her Children and Grandchildren. She enjoyed Camping, reading and caring for her  Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday August 19, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue.  Minister will be Pastor Christopher Wiseman. Burial in the LaRue Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Funeral Home in LaRue  from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday.

Pall Bearers will be; Jeremy, Matthew and Kyle King, Brian and Matthew Waterer, Tyler Darland, Charles Moore, Charles Hamm, Kevin Riley and Grant Paff.  Honorary Pall Bearers will be; John Clawson, Dillan King, Troy Riley, Christian Holloway, Charlie Yager and Kolton Miller.
