Vernon C. Kinsler Jr.


Vernon C. Kinsler Jr., age 83, of Raleigh, NC formerly of New Bloomington, Ohio, died Saturday November 13, 2010 in Raleigh NC.  He was born June 10, 1927 to the late Vernon C. and Bertha M. (Kern) Kinsler.

He is survived by three sons; Dennis (Nancy) Kinsler of Marion, Kenneth (Meera) Kinsler of Sand Spring, Oklahoma, and Randall Kinsler of New Bloomington, one daughter; Jacqueline (Mark) Gillings of Coppell, TX.  Ten grandchildren; Tisha, Traci, Derek, Weslee, Kurtis, and James Kinsler, Carey Rose, Annick Davis, Jennifer and Mark Gillings.  Ten Great Grandchildren. One sister; Roberta James of Marion.  He was preceded in death by a Great Granddaughter, a brother Kenneth Kinsler and a sister Golda Dutton.

Vernon spent the last eighteen years with his loving companion, Helen Jaycox, and her daughters Cathy and Betsy in Raleigh, NC. He was a 1945 graduate of Agosta High School, a veteran of WW II serving in the U S Army Air Corp., worked 35 years for the Erie and Erie Lackawanna Railroad and retired from the Smith Clinic. Affectionately known as Bugs or Vern by his friends he began working with the Erie Railroad at age 16. While at the railroad he became a journeyman sheet metal worker and pipe fitter. He was extremely handy with tools and could fix or build anything. He assisted in the creation of the New Bloomington Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge and the American Legion. He was an avid golfer and racecar fan. He traveled with his racing buddies to 37 Indianapolis 500 races and followed the NASCAR circuit all over the country often parking his camper at the track and driving his car home until the next race.

Funeral Services will be Saturday November 27, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue.  Minister will the Rev. John Dean.  Burial in the Agosta Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home in LaRue two hours before service time on Saturday.

Graveside Military Rites will be conducted by the Marioin County United Veterans Council.
