George W. Weaver
George W. Weaver, age 93 of Marysville, died early Monday morning, February 28, 2011 at Milcrest Nursing Center in Marysville. He was born August 8, 1917 in Leesburg Township to the late Charles and Myrtle (Wollam) Weaver. He was also preceded in death by his former wife, Martha (Steele) Weaver and a brother, Eugene.
On December 18, 1971 he married Helen L. (Cramer) Somerlot Weaver and she survives in Marysville.
He was a member of the Richwood First United Methodist Church and formerly of the Magnetic Springs United Methodist Church. George and Helen loved being part of the Buckeye Boosters, always traveling with their group of close friends. He was a school board member for 38 years, having served on the Magnetic Springs, Richwood and North Union School Boards. He took great pride in being an instrumental part of the planning committee and a founding board member of Tri-Rivers J. V. S. He officiated basketball along with Lloyd Coder for many years and in his younger years played semi-pro basketball and baseball. He served on the Farm Bureau Council, working in the exchange program with foreign farmers.
He is survived by a son, Gerald A. (Peg Gray) Weaver, Marysville; two step-sons, Criss (Rita) Somerlot, Powell; Dean R. (Beth) Somerlot, Newark; nine grandchildren, Gwen (Wally) Janeczek; Gretchen (Steve) Cantrell; Jeff (Michelle) Weaver; Jon (special friend, Heidi) Weaver; Matt Somerlot; Jennifer (Dave) Rodgers; Shaen (Jessica) Somerlot; Ryan Somerlot; Sarah (Chris) Somerlot; a niece, Deon Bourassa and twelve great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastors Joe Rhea and Jim Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
