Norma Jean Redd


Norma Jean Redd, age 81, of LaRue, Ohio died Monday April 11, 2011 at 8:40 PM at Kingston Residence of Marion. She was born September 9, 1929 on Columbus, Ohio to the late Earl E. and Marguerite (Roberts) Luke.  On January 23, 1949 she married Don Redd and he survives.

Also surviving are daughters; Marcia A. Johnson, Karen L. (Phil) McCann, and  Kathy J. (Fred) Sherer all three of Marion. Son; Donald Michael (Janie) Redd of Wheelersburg, Ohio  Grandchildren; David McClain, P. Steven (Cheryl) McCann, Shawn Redd, Donnie (Micah) Redd, Stacy (Justin) McCann Hamper, Krissy Redd, Bradley A. (Shannon) Long, and Jason (Angie) Sherer. Eleven Great Grandchildren. Brothers; Nelson (Hilda) Luke of Concord, CA, Karlton (Beverly) Luke, Philip Luke, and Donald (Dianna) Luke all three of Marion. Sister; Elaine (Tyronne) Courte of Arundel, Quebec, Canada.  She was preceded in death by twin brother and sister Robert and Roberta Luke and brother Richard Luke

Norma was a member of: LaRue United Methodist Church, Gleaner Circle, Mary Lenox Chapter # 98 O. E.S. Also was Worthy Matron, Historical Society, Genealogy Society, Carousel Organ Association of America, Happy Thyme Club, Music Box Society International. She retired from the  Henkle Holiday Memorial Library, LaRue Branch in 1994. She and her husband Don owned and operated their own Clock and Antique Shop, The Olde Thyme Shoppe. Norma was actively involved in her church for over 50 years, director of the Chancel Choir and the Youth Choir, shared being the Sunday organist. She loved music her entire life and excelled in it with a passion. Had a beautiful soprano voice. Sang in a Quartet, The Methatones singing in Ohio and surrounding states and also sung in the yearly presentation of the Messiah in Marion.

Funeral Services will be held Friday April 15, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the LaRue United Methodist Church. Where the family will receive friends from Noon to 2:00 PM also on Friday.  Minister will be the Rev. Edward W. Fugate. Burial at a later date. The Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue is helping the family with arrangements.
