Ernest “Ernie” Beeney


Ernest “Ernie” Beeney, age 76 of Richwood passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born December 8, 1935 in Richwood at the home of his parents, the late Scott and Sylvia (Evans) Beeney.

On April 22, 1957 he married the former Norma Mouser in Elkhart, Indiana, and she survives in Richwood.

He retired from Marion Power Shovel after over 42 years of service as a machinist.  In the 1960s he and Norma, along with Ron and Sue Wilds owned and operated B & W Pizza at Broadway Corners.  He was a member of Christ the Rock Church near Richwood.  He was a charter member of the Buckeye Snowtrackers Club, an active member of the North Union Athletic Boosters for over 20 years and helped with Richwood Springenfest for over 20 years.

Ernie enjoyed camping at River Bend, playing cards and marbles with his friends and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.  He enjoyed attending all sporting events of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather.  His family was his pride and joy.

Besides his wife, Norma of 55 years, he is also survived by four children, Bud (Amy) Beeney, Lynn (Shelley) Beeney, Karen (Rob) McMahan and Doug Beeney, all of Richwood; eleven grandchildren, Jason, Justin (Jen), Jamie (Gina) Beeney; Donovan (Val) Hitchings; Katie, Zach, Matt, Kayla, Karla Beeney; Adam, Ruthie Conrad; four great-grandchildren, Grayson, Tailynn, Jaystin Beeney; Lane Crapnell, and two on the way; his sister, Shirley (Beeney) Jerew, Richwood; a niece, Pam (Jerew) Simpson, Richwood; and nephew Scott (Kelly) Jerew, Richwood.

He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Madilynn Hitchings, and brother-in-law, Bob Jerew.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 23, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Dale Baker officiating.  Burial follow in Claibourne Cemetery.  Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM.
