Jeffrey Wayne “Gup” Gibson


Jeffrey Wayne Gibson “Gup”, age 52 of Richwood died unexpectedly Thursday, September 6, 2012 at his home while working in his shop.  He was born December 28, 1959 in Kenton to Todd and Brenda (Cramer) Gibson and they both survive in Richwood.

On November 15, 1997 he married Shannon Stephens in Marion and she survives.

A 1979 graduate of North Union High School, he had worked the last five years at Honda Transmission in Russells Point.  Prior to that, he had worked at Parker Hannifan in Green Camp.  Like many members of his family, Gup enjoyed racing.  He had raced Sprint Cars and was the WSOA Champion in 2007.  He was currently racing Super Modifieds.  He was a NASCAR fan, especially of both Dale Earnhardts, and loved the Dallas Cowboys.  He enjoyed cookouts and playing cornhole with family and friends.  He was a good father, grandfather, husband, brother, son and friend.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Abby (Jared) Evans, Delaware; Ashly (Justin) McCulla, St. Paris; Adrienne Gibson, Richwood; a son, Tyler (Danielle) Gay, Marion; grandchildren, Jackson Evans, Carson McCulla, Payson Gay, and a granddaughter he was expecting later this month, Landry McCulla; a sister, Deb Brady (Randy McElroy), Richwood; two brothers, Gene Lee (Cindy) Gibson, Sandusky; Larry (Lisa) Gibson, Richwood; sister-in-law, Linda Gibson, LaRue; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gregg and Jessica Stephens, Kenton; sister-in-law, Shawn Stephens, Marion; and his special dog, Bridgett.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Gibson.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the Richwood Church of Christ with Pastor Matthew Craig officiating.  Burial will follow in LaRue Cemetery.  Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood.
