Lee Sobas


Lee Sobas, age 75 of Marysville died Monday evening, April 1, 2013.  She was born April 13, 1937 in Washington, DC and was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Goshorn.

On July 26, 1958 she married Stanley J. Sobas in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in LaRue and he died September 28, 2004.  She and her husband shared a love of horses which got them involved in American Quarter Horse Congress for many years.  Stan and Lee were committed to the betterment of O. Q. H. A.  They were with the American Quarter Horse Congress since its inception in 1967.  Among the most distinguished of their horses was Majors Wimpy, A. Q. H. A. champion and multiple A. Q. H. A. champion producer.  She had been the All American Quarter Horse Congress Show Secretary of many years.  She began working in the Ohio Quarter Horse Association office in 1975.  After she retired in 2001 she was inducted into the All American Quarter Horse Congress Hall of Fame.

She loved to travel throughout the U. S. and especially enjoyed visiting Scotland, having fallen in love with the Scottish culture.

She is survived by a son, Patrick Sobas, Marysville; three grandchildren, Jeff Leopard, Collin Sobas, and Darian Elizabeth Sobas.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 5, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood where friends may call 2 hours prior to the service.  Private graveside services will be held at a later date in Maskill Cemetery.
