Dondra Marie (Deane) Preston

Dondra Marie (Deane) Preston of South Vienna and formerly of Radnor, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, March 13, 2014, surrounded by family in her childhood home in South Vienna. She dedicated her life to serving the Lord and the caretaking of others. After careers as a process engineering coordinator for Abbott & Co. and office administrator for Anthem, she started Two by Two Daycare out of her home in Radnor in 1996. During this time she helped raise many children in the community by taking care of them as if they were her own. She closed the daycare in 2008 in order to focus on providing care for her aging parents.

Dondra is survived by her mother, Betty Deane, who currently resides at the Madison House of London OH; her husband Dan W. Preston of Radnor, OH; daughter Christina Moore(Jim) of London, OH; sons Matt Preston(Wendi) of Richwood,OH; Bill Preston of Marion,OH; and granddaughters Megan Preston, Alliana Moore, Ellen Moore and Olivia Preston. Her two brothers-in-law Howard Preston (Karen) of Durango, CO and David Preston (Laureen) of Livonia, MI; a niece, 3 nephews, several great-nieces and nephews and many friends including her sister in Christ (or as they would say “sisters from another mister”) Bev Cox of Delaware, OH. She is preceded in death by her father, Harold T. Deane, and her parents-in-law, Howard and Thelma Preston of Richwood, OH.

Dondra married Dan on April 13, 1986, and they made their home together in Radnor, Ohio. Dondra enjoyed many activities throughout her life including singing in the church choir and coaching softball. She was a 4-H advisor of the Prospect Pistols and Petticoats, a member of the Rattles to Rings CCL, a member of the Women’s Society and also a youth group advisor at Radnor Baptist Church. She and Dan loved camping and cherished time at their cabin in Amish Country. Dondra was a photographer and crafter, combining both passions into terrific cards and scrapbooks for family and friends. But mostly she loved being a grandma and a “mom” to those she cared for in her daycare.
