Phyllis Ann Beltz


Phyllis Ann Beltz, 79 of Prospect (Centerville), died Saturday evening, August 2, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born February 17, 1935 in Delaware to the late Joseph and Margaret (Rouse) Fox.

On October 12, 1958 she married William F. “Bill” Beltz in the Union Baptist Church, and he died October 6, 2005.  She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen E. Blackburn; brothers-in-law, Larry Bailey, Albert Beltz, and Sanford Malone; and sisters-in-law, Phyllis Clark and Geraldine Beltz.

She was a member of Shiloh Community Church, Prospect.  Phyllis lived to serve her Savior, and made it her life’s work to bring family and friends to the Lord.  She was a 1953 graduate of LaRue High School, where she was her class’s salutatorian.  She had also attended Essex and Green Camp schools.

She loved to cook and sew, and made her family the center of her life.  Phyllis enjoyed being outside and tending to her garden.  She was a member of Green Camp Senior Citizens and New Bloomington Senior Citizens, and always looked forward to Friday nights out with her friend, Phyllis.

She is survived by children, Douglas T. (Jeni) Blackburn, Raymond; Vernon D. (Stacie Reese) Beltz, Prospect; Philip R. (Debra Henault) Beltz, Prospect; grandchildren, Sarah (Chad) Redman, Reuben (Amanda) Blackburn, Quinton Beltz, Kendell (Mathew) Cherry, Courtnie Beltz, Kaitlin (Dan Rice) Beltz, Coleton Beltz, Kelton Beltz, Bradley Beltz, Audrey Beltz; great-grandchildren, Justin & Kylie Redman, Jacob, Shyan, & Kayden Cherry, Alexis Rice; a sister, Janis K. Bailey, Marion;  brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond (Blanche) Beltz, Paul (Peggy) Beltz, Sam (Marlyn) Beltz,Tom (Maude) Higgins, Jane Malone, David (Tami) Beltz, Carol Beltz; her very dear friend, Mrs. Phyllis Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Bill Wasserbeck officiating.  Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery.  Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home in Richwood.
