Howard Kenneth Stinemetz


Howard Kenneth Stinemetz, 87 of Marysville, died peacefully Saturday, September 27, 2014 at his home.  He was born May 13, 1927 in Leesburg Township to the late Kenneth “Kelly” and Anne (Beaver) Stinemetz.

He farmed for more than sixty years on his land north of Marysville and he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and trapping.  He attended Morral High School where he held the Marion County record for the 220 yard dash for several years. A World War II veteran, he served in the U. S. Army from 1944 to 1946 in Germany.  He was assigned to trains that transported prisoners to war camps.  Howard was very active in the VFW in Richwood for several years. He helped with the honor guard for military funerals.

He is survived by his daughter, Diana (Kenny) Bird of Delaware; a son, Tom Stinemetz of Marysville; grandchildren, Sarah (Robert) Russell, Adam Stinemetz, Travis (Tonya) Stinemetz, all of Columbus; Joshua (Michelle) Stinemetz of Hillard; Tommy Jr. (Rachel) Stinemetz of Marysville; seven great-grandchildren, Clayton Russell, Henry, Harper, Abigail, Morgan, Kayala and Alyssa Stinemetz; brothers, Glenn (Lona) Stinemetz, Duane Stinemetz; very close special friends, Tonya and Richard Vance along with nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold; granddaughter, Carol Bird; close friend Margaret Wood Haines; and former wife, Doris Clair.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Joe Rhea officiating.  Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Richwood Area Veterans.  Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the funeral home, beginning at 11:00 AM.
