Janet R. (Everett) Roberts-Friend
Janet R. (Everett) Roberts-Friend, 74 of Richwood, was called home to be with her Lord on Friday, January 30, 2015 at her home. She was born June 17, 1940 to the late Tinsley and Nannie (Harr) Everett in Portsmouth. She attended the White Oaks Road Freewill Baptist Church in Marion. She enjoyed church, gardening, fishing, cooking and spending time with her family. Janet had a great love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was married on May 11, 1957 to her husband of 52 years Harlen K. Roberts Sr. until his death on May 6, 2009. Together they owned and operated numerous businesses and the family farm hog operation. Their last operating business was Richwood Meats in Richwood that they operated with their son, Rodney and his wife, Michelle.
She married the late Rev. John Friend on January 8, 2011. He passed away October 1, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Donna June Everett and her daughter, Donna Kay Matteson.
She is survived by three sons, Harlen (Linda) Roberts Jr., Marion; Rodney (Michelle) Roberts, Richwood; William (Amy) Roberts, Marion; two sisters, Darlene M. Rayburn, Marion; Saundra Morman, South Shore, Kentucky; twelve grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by step-children, Deborah (Jimmy) Harris, Marion; Connie (Bob) Umberger, Wilmington, Delaware; John (Patty) Friend Jr., Raymond; and Rodney Friend, LaRue.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Danny Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in Price Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home in Richwood.
