Paula A. Swafford

Paula A. Swafford, 57 of rural Marion, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the home of her daughter in Westerville.  She was born May 18, 1957 in Marion to the late Amos P. and Barbara A. (Bloomfield) Swafford.

She attended Elgin High School.  She enjoyed crafts, sewing and shopping.  Paula would give the shirt off her back for anyone who was in need.  She was a very hard worker and was extremely family oriented.  She loved to travel and often visited Tennessee.  Her other favorites were Hawaii and San Francisco.  Paula was sweet, loving, caring, simple, and had old school morals which are difficult to come by in these modern times.

She is survived by three daughters, Lisa Gay-Cobb, Marion; Barbara (Anant) Manu, Westerville; Debbie (Justin) Spencer, LaRue; a son, Eric Gay, Kenton; seven grandchildren, Ashley (Jessica) Gay-Cobb, San Antonio Texas; Lindsay Gay-Cobb, Marion; Kendra Alexander, LaRue; Jada Alexander, LaRue; Kali Gay, Kenton; Kami Gay, Kenton; Arnav Manu, Westerville; nephews, Amos (Larry) Burk, Marion; and Billy Burk, LaRue.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Connie M. Swafford and a nephew, Kenny Swafford.

Upon untimely passing of her sister Connie, she undertook the care of her three nephews and raised seven kids in all. The house was always full of kids from the neighborhood.  She was a coffee connoisseur and there would always be a pot of fresh coffee in the house.  She adored her movie collection to which she would add often. Family members would often joke about not having to buy a movie because Mom already had it and they could borrow that from her.  Her ability to stay awake for extended period of hours was exemplary. She would often work a full late night shift immediately followed by a visit to her family members early in the morning for a fun-filled day of shopping and watching movies, followed by more shopping. She had a natural ability of thinking about unique living room arrangements which she would ameliorate with her craft skills.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 12:00 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, LaRue with Pastor Matt Dahm officiating.  Burial will follow in the Preston Cemetery near Alger.  Friends may call two hours prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM.

Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5555 Frantz Rd. Dublin, OH 43017.
