Richard E. Blair


Richard E. Blair, 80 of Prospect, died Sunday morning, October 18, 2015 at Marion General Hospital.  He was born April 28, 1935 in Marion to the late Norbid O. and Elsie M. (Hutchinson) Blair.

On November 27, 1970 in Prospect he married the former Marian S. Jones and she survives in Prospect.

A Findlay High School graduate, he worked at Marion Power Shovel in engineering and design for over 40 years.  He was a longtime member of Prospect United Methodist Church.  He was a member of Hiram Lodge #18 Free & Accepted Masons in Delaware and the former Prospect Lodge #444.  He also belonged to George Lewis Behrens Chapter #504 Order of the Eastern Star, Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, and the Marionaires Barbershop Harmony Chorus.

Dick enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing, camping and traveling, dancing, and family gatherings.  He and Marian spent their winters in Tavares, Florida.

Besides his wife, he is survived by six daughters, Valinda (William) Klingler, Marion; Valrie (Douglas) Gay, Prospect; Teresa (Kenneth) Bevis, Richwood; Tammie (Wayne) Griffith, Ft. Myers, Florida; Vickey (Scott Bennett) Martin, Marion; Vera (Larry Smith) Mitchell, Morral; 19 grandchildren, Jereme (Judy Brenner) Phillips, Nathan (Tammy) Phillips, Rachael Klingler, Megan Klingler, William R. Klingler, Joshua (Amanda Cuffman) Gay, Justin (Ashlee) Gay, Derek (Beth) Bevis, Chelsea (Bill) Butler, Robert (Megan) Bevis, Sam (Carolyn Carmean) Bevis, Noelle (Matt) Bloomfield, Taylor Ellett, Summer (Kevan) Tidd, Kyle (Jennifer) Weddington, Lacey Mitchell, Brittany (Walter) Call III, Tesla Smith, Brandon Smith, ; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry (Patti) Blair, Radnor; two sisters, Alice (Chuck) Taylor, Southern Pines, North Carolina; Sharon (Phil) Roberts, Prospect.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Carolyn Christman officiating.  Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery.  Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home in Richwood where a Masonic service will be conducted by Hiram Lodge #18 F&AM at 8:00 PM.
