Hoyt Leeth Jr.


Hoyt Leeth Jr., 92 of Marion, formerly of Marseilles, died early Friday morning, November 20, 2015 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Kenton.  He was born October 16, 1923 in Lima to the late Hoyt C. and Gail (Newland) Leeth.  On August 24, 1945 he married the former Betty Pauline Purcell and she died October 23, 2000.  On June 28, 2012 he married the former Vivian J. (Case) and she died October 26, 2015.

He worked as a tow motor operator at the former Marion Depot and retired from Rockwell in Kenton.  He was a former member of the Marseilles Presbyterian Church and had attended the New Covenant Fellowship in Marion.  He had been an active member of the Marseilles community where he was a member of the former Marseilles Lodge #515 F&AM, was the former volunteer fire chief and town marshal and was a Wyandot County Auxiliary Deputy Sheriff.  Hoyt loved to fish and play golf.

He is survived by a daughter, Pam (Lanny) Rapp, Marseilles; two sons, Steve (Sharon) Leeth, Marion; Gerry (Carol) Leeth, Upper Sandusky; a brother, Charles (Phyllis) Leeth, Marion; a sister, Mary Hoover, Marion; ten grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, LaRue, Pastor Rex Roth officiating.  Burial will follow in LaRue Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Uppers Sandusky Veterans Color Guard.  Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home in LaRue.
