Samuel K. Williams

Samuel K. Williams, 75 of Richwood, died peacefully early Thursday morning, February 25, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born July 22, 1940 in Clearfield, Kentucky to the late Joseph Williams and Elizabeth (Jenkins) Williams Watson.  He was also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Robert and Mabel Brown, and a step-grandson, Dalton Carmean.

Sam's first love was his family, which included his "second" family of co-workers and customers at McAuliffe’s ACE Hardware in Marysville. He enjoyed hiking, camping, hunting, and everything that involved being outdoors. Sam was an avid carpenter by trade. There was never a project too challenging for him to tackle. He had a passion for helping and teaching others whether at home, at ACE, or in the community.

Although Sam was a man of few words, he always spoke with wisdom, love, laughter, humility, and truth. With his resilient faith, he witnessed to many by living a life for Christ. A scripture he held close to his heart was Philippians 3: 13-14, "Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

On October 27, 1962 he married the former Nancy Jean Brown in Columbus and she survives in Richwood.   He is also survived by three daughters, Vicki (Steve) Price, Richwood; Jean (Mike) Carmean, Richwood; Heidi (Matt) Dunbar, Marysville; twelve grandchildren, Sarah (Cory) Smith, Nathan (McKenzie) Price, Bethany Price, Alicia (Cody) Beery, Janae Price, Nicholas Call, Joseph (Mikaela) Call, Samantha Call, Ryan, Kelsey, Austin and Morgan Reese; four step-grandchildren, Erin Dunbar, Lindsay (Nick) Sallecchia, Carolyn and Dillon Carmean; ten great-grandchildren, Kinley, Colton, Drake and Elizabeth Smith, Levi Price, Jaydence Call, Jada and Joseph Call, Peyton and Paxton Engle; a brother, Scott (Arlene) Williams, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Dick (Joyce) Brown, Gahanna; and a sister-in-law, Sue (Keith) Miller, Lancaster.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Dr. Jeremy Westbrook officiating.  Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery.  Friends may call Monday, February 29 from 3 to 7 PM at the funeral home in Richwood.
