Roger D. "Fergie" Ferguson


Roger D. "Fergie" Ferguson, 60 of Richwood, died Thursday morning, March 10, 2016 at Doctors West Hospital.

He was born August 16, 1955 in Chicago to the late Thomas J. and Muriel Wynell (Shaw) Ferguson.

A 1973 graduate of North Union High School, Fergie was dedicated Wildcat his entire life, he could be seen at most sporting events, whether it was keeping the clock, or just supporting the kids, Fergie was there. His love of sports and community shown though his entire life, he was a former longtime Little League Baseball Coach in Richwood, and when he quit coaching he didn’t miss many games as he could be seen driving his golf cart to the park. It was always about the kids, Fergie loved being a part of Richwood and the North Union Community.

Roger had worked at the former Web Plastics, the Riviera Golf Course and Rolling Meadows Golf Course. He was a huge sports fan, following North Union, the O.S.U. Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns, he also loved collecting baseball cards and was known to give cards as Halloween gifts. Roger also collected records and was a D.J. in the area. After the death of his parents, he made it a priority to keep the Shaw Family Reunion going, this was very important to him. Roger was a current member of the Richwood Village Council.

Surviving are his uncle: Bill (Darlene) Shaw of Delray Beach, Florida, Aunt: Dorothy Bitner of Apollo, Pa. and many cousins including local cousins: John and Vickie Gruber and Gary and Linda Shaw and their families with whom he spent a lot of family time, many friends and extended family. Special friend: Kathy Bratcher Lewisburg, Ky.

Funeral services will be held Monday March 14, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood, burial will follow in the Claibourne Cemetery, Pastors Matthew Craig and Joseph Rhea will officiate. Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 pm at the funeral home in Richwood
