Bertha “Bertie” Disbennett


Bertha “Bertie” Disbennett, 84 of Richwood died Thursday morning, March 17, 2016 at Heartland of Marysville in a room shared by her husband, Robert, holding his hand.  It was the end of a 66-year love affair that began on November 20, 1949 in York Center.

She was born July 29, 1931 in Marion to the late Charles and Della (Marshall) Jones.  The youngest of eleven children, she was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters.

She was a member of Claibourne United Methodist Church.  Bertie immensely enjoyed gardening, and loved feeding and watching hummingbirds.  She was an avid collector of figurines, including birds, clowns and Betty Boop dolls, as well as other glassware.  She and Bob enjoyed vacationing in Daytona Beach and also Pigeon Forge and she loved watching her grandchildren play at their softball and baseball games.

Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, Charles Disbennett, Lakeview; Terry (Mary) Disbennett, Richwood; three grandchildren, Robert Disbennett, Heidi (Rich Rogan) Disbennett, and Charles (Jennifer) Disbennett II; and a great-granddaughter, Kenleigh.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastors Danny Grose and Kevin Orr officiating.  Burial will follow in Broadway Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home in Richwood.
