Wanda Arlene Blue


Wanda Arlene Blue, 76 of Richwood, died early Wednesday morning, April 13, 2016 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital.

She was born June 2, 1939 in Port Washington, Ohio to the late Waldo and Minnie Coral (Ward) Hostetter.  She was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters and a grandson, Robert Levi Matthew Arms.

A long-time resident and active member of the Richwood community, Arlene served as a village council member for over 20 years.  She enjoyed local politics and served on the Union County Board of Elections for many years.  Shopping and going out to eat were among her favorite things to do.

She had worked for Marion Power Shovel as a switchboard operator before being employed by Scotts as a bookkeeper.  She then worked for Mays Jewelers which was located in the Sutton and Lightner department store in Marion.  Arlene ran Blue’s Accounting Service out of her house for 35 years, working as a bookkeeper and tax preparer for many people and businesses in the area.

On October 23, 1964 she married Robert “Fritz” Blue at the First United Methodist Church in Richwood and he survives.  She is also survived by a son, Christopher S. (Rachel Ann) Blue, Claibourne; a daughter, Elizabeth Stout, Richwood; six grandchildren: Jerad Norman; Justin Blue; Chelsea Hinebaugh, Nathan Blue, Sara Nicole Burnett and Nicolas Rowe, five great-grandchildren: Kylah Blue, Bailey Blue, Locklynn Waters, Atleigh Waters and Abigail Young

Funeral services will be Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 4:00 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Matthew Craig officiating.  Friends may call two hours prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 PM.  Private burial will be held at Claibourne Cemetery.
