Mary Marsena Miller


Mary Marsena Miller, 85 of Richwood, died early Monday morning, August 15, 2016 at the Memorial Gables in Marysville.

She was born August 17, 1930 in Byesville to the late Thomas and Mildred (Spaid) Blackburn.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Bernard Miller in 2005, whom she married March 28, 1953 in Centerburg; as well as a brother, Frank Blackburn and a sister, Corinne Ruby.

She was a member of Richwood First United Methodist Church and had been a teacher at Byhalia, York and Essex Schools (now North Union) for 30 years.  Marsena was an avid Cleveland Indians baseball fan as well as Ohio State Men’s and Women’s basketball.  She also enjoyed cheering for North Union girls’ softball.

Marsena loved to travel with her husband, Jack all over the U. S. and enjoyed wintering in Frostproof, Florida for many years.  She was a good cook, and more than anything, she loved being a mom; spending time with her kids and grandchildren was what brought her the greatest joy.

She is survived by four sons, Michael A. (Debbie) Miller, Richwood; Tim (Mary) Miller, Dublin; Steve (Irene) Miller, Columbus; David (Lori) Miller, Ostrander; a daughter, Mary (David) Wykoff, Richwood; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Sara (Corey) Schwartz and Colton; Heather (Scott) Reed and Mason; Brian (Darie) Gray and Ian; Wendy Miller, Jeremy (Stacia) Miller and Caleb, Caven, Ethan and Blake; Derek Miller; Cinnamon Miller; Matthew Wykoff; and Rachel (Chris) Minnich.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 22, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Joe Rhea officiating.  Burial will follow in Price Cemetery.  Friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 5 PM at the funeral home in Richwood.
