Spencer K. Jordan


Spencer K. Jordan, 69 of Richwood, died Tuesday morning, August 16, 2016 at Heartland of Marion.

He was born February 18, 1947 in Marion to Kenneth B. Jordan, who preceded him in death, and his mother, Melva (Patrick) Shuman, who survives in Richwood.

On March 5, 1972 he married the former Diana Holt, and she survives in Richwood.

He was a 1965 graduate Richwood High School, which was the last class before it became North Union.  He worked as a lineman and troubleshooter for Ohio Edison out of the Marion office for over 41 years.  When he was younger he worked at the Cramer and Bugg Sohio station in Richwood.

A veteran of the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War, he was a lifetime and active member of VFW Post 870 in Richwood.

Spence coached junior football and baseball and was a spotter in the press box for North Union Football.  He loved fishing, hunting and camping and enjoyed taking family vacations to Michigan and Canada.  He was an avid NASCAR fan, often going to the races at Michigan International Speedway.  Michael Waltrip was his favorite driver.

Family was the most important thing to Spence, who taught his boys their good work ethic.  His enthusiasm for being an outdoorsman was inherited by his sons and grandsons, whom he adored.

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Shad S. (Emilie) Jordan, Canton, Michigan; Seth S. Jordan, Richwood; grandsons, Nolan and Greyson Jordan; a sister, Connie (Bob) Hill, Brentwood, Tennessee; three nephews and two nieces.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Joe Rhea officiating.  Military honors will be conducted by the Richwood Area Veterans and burial will follow in Price Cemetery.  Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home in Richwood.
