Floyd Frederick Watterson


Floyd Frederick Watterson, 76 of Richwood died unexpectedly Thursday, September 1, 2016 at OSU Medical Center.

He was born September 13, 1939 in Delaware County to the late Earl and Mary (Jacobs) Watterson.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette (Teets) Watterson, whom he married November 30, 1989 in Midlothian, Texas, and she died November 21, 2009; an infant brother, Elsa and a brother-in-law, Dana Shoup.

He worked as a tow motor driver for the O. M. Scott & Son Company before becoming the owner and operator of his own trucking business where he was an over-the-road truck driver for over 35 years.  He was a member of the Union County Civil Defense as well as the Leesburg-Magnetic Fire Department.  He also served as an Auxiliary Deputy for the Union County Sheriff’s Department.

Floyd loved taking care of his yard and his dogs and cats.  He enjoyed going to auctions and most of all, loved his family.

He is survived by four daughters, Kay (Jim) Walters, Richwood; Carissa (Steven) Davis, Richwood; Carie (Tom) Cremeans, Centerburg; Corey (Greg) Hamburger, Marysville; 14 grandchildren, B. J. (Jonda) Smith; Matthew (Tiffany) Smith; Jamie and Brandon Walters; Christa (P. J.) Williams; Cory (Annie) Davis; Fred Davis; E. J. Davis; Brian (Sara) Wood; Mandi Wood; Samantha (Levi) Kanagy; Tom Cremeans II; Chad Oliver; Hillary Williams; 18 great-grandchildren, Reagan, Brock and Grayson Smith; Hayden and Jackson Smith; Kinsey (Phillip) Anderson; Kylee and Logan Williams; Meave, Charlie and Harrison Davis; Nevaeh, Preston and Gabriel Davis; Selah Wood; Aubrey and McKinley Kanagy; Cheyenne Oliver; a great-great-grandson, Bailey Anderson; a sister, Bernice Shoup, Findlay; and a brother, John (Sue) Watterson, Daytona, Florida.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Ken Mosser officiating.  Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery.  Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home in Richwood.
