Robert C. Davis


Robert C. Davis, 92 of Richwood, died peacefully at home early Tuesday morning, January 24, 2017.

He was born September 28, 1924 in Thompson Township, Delaware County to the late David and Edith (Strohl) Davis.

On October 23, 1949 he married the former Eula Jean Gulliford in the First United Methodist Church in Richwood and she died November 6, 2014.  He was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Lois Jean Davis.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Richwood.  He  was a life-long farmer and raised livestock of all types, especially dairy and beef cattle.  In high school he was active in FFA and also attended Buckeye Boys State, where he was elected state treasurer.  Bob served on the Richwood Fair Board for many years.  He was a Claibourne Township Trustee and served on the Dairy Co-Op.  A veteran of the U. S. Army, he served as an MP in Korea and the Philippines during World War II.

Bob was an avid sports fan, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds.  He and Eula Jean were members of the Rebounders Club, attending many OSU Women’s basketball games.  They always supported their kids in all their activities.  He enjoyed gardening and watching birds and was good at identifying any species that he could see and hear.

He is survived by two daughters, Sue Byers, Akron; Ann Davis, Delaware; a son, Jason (Sue) Davis, Fresno; two granddaughters, Yvonne (Richard Coteat) McKee, Akron; Carolyn (Robert) Buchanan, Uniontown; a grandson, Hayden Davis, Fresno; great-granddaughters, Nora and Haley Buchanan, Uniontown; a sister, Donna (David) Ehret, Richwood.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church, Richwood with Pastor Joe Rhea officiating.  Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery.  Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood where military honors will be conducted at 7:00 PM by the Richwood Area Veterans.
